The Dieppe Fly Fishing Forum 2015 provided a great chance for us to talk to all of you in the Moncton area and “parts beyond”; we’d like to express our appreciation to those of you who stopped by to chat with us during this event and we hope you enjoyed the Forum and the NB Sportsman Show. We enjoy this event ourselves and it’s become truly a “don’t miss” show when we plan which events we’re going to attend over the winter months. Following with that thought, we still have some great dates left for fishing and naturally, as opening day draws closer and the weather warms more of us get that “fishing fever”-so we encourage you to contact us to plan your excursion(s) while there’s still some degree of flexibility as far as date ranges go. We remind everyone that all of our packages include your own cabin and access to our leased waters. Fully guided trips are available, however if you are new to Lake Trout and/or Landlocked Salmon fishing and would just perhaps like to hire a guide for a single day out of a multi-day stay, just to “show you the ropes” we will do our best to accommodate you.
The second part of our “Fishing With Friends” video we shot last July with Steve Clapperton and crew is now available on our Youtube channel at https://youtu.be/5PrG0TGqkrM (courtesy of Eastlink TV who produced the video-thanks to them for sharing) This video features fly fishing for Brook ( Speckled) Trout and Landlocked Atlantic Salmon in and around Mud Lake, which is one of our leased lakes that is set aside for catch and release fishing only. Shot in one evening just before dark, we hook several wild Brookies and salmon.
On a final note we remind our non-resident friends the countdown is on to get your applications in for the New Brunswick non-resident moose hunting lottery (more info on our Moose hunting page) The deadline is down to 4 weeks away (April 30) so if you’re considering a New Brunswick Moose hunt be sure to get those applications in.
Hi folks-we’ll start this post by saying thanks to all who came out to talk to us while attending the show in Halifax last weekend; as usual we had a great time ourselves speaking with folks from all over Nova Scotia and beyond. Our next (and final show of the winter/ spring) will be the Dieppe Fly Fishing Forum 2015 which takes place annually in conjunction with the New Brunswick Sportsmen’s Show. The Dieppe Fly Fishing Forum has all kinds of gear for everyone-the focus is naturally on fly fishing but there’s lots of equipment on display to appeal to any angler. This event will be taking place March 27 to 29 at the Moncton Coliseum, 377 Killam Drive, Moncton New Brunswick. For more information on the Dieppe Fly Fishing Forum visit http://www.flyfishingforum.ca/
The first part of the video from Eastlink TV’s “Fishing With Friends” is now live on our Youtube channel! This video was shot last July (2014) when Steve Clapperton joined us at Long Lake Adventures for some Lake Trout fishing; featuring some trolling in deep water and casting we boated and released a few fine Lakers. Part 2 featuring fly fishing for Landlocked Salmon and Brook Trout will be online in a few days. These videos aired on TV recently on Eastlink’s own cable channel which covers southwestern New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia . We thank Eastlink and everyone associated with production for creating and sharing the videos with us to show “to everyone” interested in fishing at Long Lake Adventures!
Canada In The Rough will be visiting us this spring to take part in a New Brunswick spring bear hunt as well as experiencing our great fishing for Lake Trout and Landlocked Salmon!
Canada in the Rough is one of North America’s most popular outdoor television shows, hosted by the Beasley Brothers- Keith, Kevin and Paul, they’ll be joined here at Long Lake Adventures by Darren Hasson of Graywood Sporting Group. We’ll be pursuing some big Black Bears in the late afternoon/evenings and spending the rest of our daylight hours on the water in search of some Landlocked Atlantic Salmon and Lake Trout. This will be Canada In The Rough’s first trip to Long Lake Adventures and we look forward to hosting them!
It’s that time of year again!
This weekend we’ll be heading for the Atlantic Outdoor Sports and RV show in Halifax,Nova Scotia at Exhibition Park. Come on down and see us to book your summer fishing adventure-we offer the chance to catch some big Lake Trout and we have lots of leaping Landlocked Atlantic Salmon or maybe try a New Brunswick Black Bear or bird hunt or just drop by our booth and say hello. Overall we had a great summer in 2014 of fishing here at Long Lake Adventures once again. Fishing continued to be very good through July and August with mostly warm, dry weather and favourable conditions for both fish and fisherman. Labour day weekend saw some unsettled weather and fishing was slow for a few days but picked back up with great action for our last few groups of fishermen in early September. Lake trout season closed on September 15 and we’re already looking forward to the 2015 season. We’d like to thank all of our fishing guests for their patronage and look forward to seeing you next summer- we’re already booking for 2015 so we suggest you contact us ASAP to make your booking and get the best choice of dates (weekends fill up fast!)
We also had several folks take advantage of our family vacation packages with great feedback as well as having a great time with the ATV groups that visited us this summer-we hope to see you all again next year and would like to express our appreciation for choosing Long Lake Adventures for your excursions! We’ll be adding a page dedicated to ATV trips to the website in the near future, so keep an eye out for that; right now the New Brunswick Moose season is in full swing so our attention for the next few days will be with that. Hunting news will be posted here as well on our facebook page.
Thanks again for a great summer!/Merci encore pour un bel été!
Clay and Tanya, and everyone at Long Lake Adventures
Sorry for the delay in updates but things have been rather busy here at Long Lake. After winding up our spring bear season, we jumped right into some spectacular New Brunswick Lake Trout fishing. Vertical jigging and deep water trolling proved to be “the ticket” recently as water temperatures warmed up in mid-June. In one 7 day period near the end of June we boated Lakers with the smallest weighing in at 5 ½ pounds and the largest tipping the scales at 19 ½ pounds. Of the 33 boated ONLY 4 left the lake! Hook and release at it’s finest! In addition to the Lakers, we have found the shoreline to be productive for Landlocked Salmon.
On June 25th we hosted our first ever” Guided ATV excursion” 14 couples plus Tanya & I enjoyed 2 days exploring Acadian Timber’s picturesque property, eating fine food and sharing great company!! An AWESOME trip!
On July 5th we wrapped up another great experience….We have been shooting an episode of Fishing With Friends with host Steve Clapperton and Danny Harvie on camera. Lots of fish were caught and released, stories shared and laughs were unlimited. Thanks a lot guys for including us in next season! “Right On!”. This show airs on Eastlink cable in Nova Scotia and PEI – we will posting a copy to our Youtube channel after the show broadcasts for all our friends here in New Brunswick and elsewhere.
Mud Lake landlocked salmon June 5
2 fine lakers from last weekend
Last week was a busy week for us with bear hunters and most of our camps were occupied by hunters and their family and friends. The fishing groups we had experienced good fishing early in the week however a cold front passed over northern New Brunswick that was followed by a couple of days of unsettled weather mid-week and this seemed to slow the bite down.
Nice Landlocked Salmon from Long Lake
Fishing started to pick up again Thursday evening into Friday on Long Lake and over the weekend our guests caught some large fish. The weather forecast for the coming few days sounds favourable and we expect good fishing to continue throughout the week.
2 nice lake trout- 11lbs (left) and 13 lbs (right)-June 1, 2014
Mud Lake is producing lots of fiesty landlocked salmon now for our catch and release only anglers.
We had another great week of fishing here at Long Lake Adventures-water conditions are now prime and warmer weather is making for more pleasant conditions on the water. The last few days saw very little in the way of rain after the cool ,windy conditions we had during early part of last week. Topwater action continues to be good and our fishing guests that were here over the weekend hooked into several 10 pound plus Lake Trout. Landlocked Salmon fishing also continues to be very good.
Weather for the rest of the week is forecast to be darker with some rain but overall conditions should be good ! A few openings still exist so contact us for your chance at getting in on New Brunswick’s finest Lake fishing.
Another nice Laker from Long Lake.
nice lake trout and a fat landlocked salmon
Doubleheader on Landlocked Salmon
New Brunswick Togue May 25,2014
Fishing continues to be great here at Long Lake Adventures and waters have warmed only slightly as there is still snow in the woods in this part of northern New Brunswick( yes, really there is ). Landlocked Salmon fishing seems to be getting better by the day. Overall conditions have been favourable with overcast skies but little in the way of significant rainfall or high winds the last couple of days. Topwater action continues to be great with anglers using a variety of lures-mostly minnow baits trolled on a flat line.
Nice New Brunswick Lake Trout-May 15,2014
13+ pound Lake Trout May 18 ,2014
Fishing season started 4 days ago and our guests have hooked into several fine Togue ( Lake Trout). Landlocked Salmon fishing has also been exceptionally good. The “bite” is really just starting now due in part to the ice only completely leaving the lake a couple of days before the season started. The lure of choice for most of our guests have been various Rapala patterns trolled topwater -we still have a few dates available this spring and with the later-than-normal ice out we expect the water will stay cool well into the latter part of June. Call us at 506-356-5151 or contact us by clicking here to get in on New Brunswick’s finest lake fishing for trout and salmon!
