(This Article Posted May 15, 2017) Today’s the day many of you have long-awaited, for the New Brunswick 2017 Non-Resident Moose Draw Results to become available! If you haven’t checked the results yet you can do so by clicking here (page opens in new window). If you were fortunate enough to be drawn we congratulate you! We had a great Moose season here at Long Lake Adventures last year with our non-residents taking 3 fine bulls (see our 2016 photos here). Our preliminary scouting this spring indicates the Moose in our area wintered well making the outlook for 2017 very positive. To read more about New Brunswick Moose hunting here at Long Lake Adventures check our page here. Our Moose hunts are all-inclusive and cover everything except license cost and gratuities. That means all transportation to and from your hunting area, meals, lodging, guide costs and skinning/preparation of your Moose are included.

We even have a special arrangement with a local professional butcher shop who will process your Moose meat to your specifications before you leave. This service is not included in the price of your hunt and you will pay the butcher directly. (His rates are very reasonable and his work is second-to-none). We are not aware of any other outfitters in New Brunswick offering this service.

Our location in the wilderness along with the services we offer including great atmosphere, great food and well-experienced, professional guides make Long Lake the place to be when the 2017 New Brunswick Moose season rolls around. You can contact us via our website contact form or call us at 506-356-5151.

Long Lake Saturday Morning May 13, 2017

The ice is out at Long Lake! Right on schedule and just in time for the season opener today, May 15. There was still some lingering ice on Friday but we awoke to a gorgeous day Saturday which was certainly welcome after all the rain over the last several days. All the coves in the lake will be accessible for our first-day anglers so they can reach their favorite hot spots. Last year was a great year for both Lake Trout and Landlocked Salmon fishing here at Long Lake Adventures. We still have a handful of spots available for some prime early season fishing so if you’re considering an early season trip it’s not too late! Our contact info is in the paragraph above, these dates provide an excellent opportunity to hook top-water Salmon and Lake Trout.

2016 Year in Review Long Lake Adventures

2016 will go down in the books as another great year here at Long Lake Adventures. We’ve broken down our recap into three categories; fishing, bear hunting and non-resident moose hunting, with links to new photo galleries. We’ve also got a brand new promotional video on our Youtube channel that shows more about all the fantastic opportunities for everyone here at Long Lake Adventures.

Fishing

Landlocked Salmon from Mud Lake 2016

What a year! After a bit of a slow start 2016 proved to be one of the best seasons in Long Lake’s history.

When the fish started biting you weren’t sure what you had on, a Lake Trout or a Landlocked Salmon. Some of the largest of both species were hooked this year, with a new camp record Lake Trout caught and released. This fish tipped the scales and a whopping 24 pounds.

On our guided All Inclusive fishing trips , where we provided the boat, guide, and gear as well as accommodations and meals our guests had exceptional fishing, we boated over 70 Lake Trout including the 24- pound fish mentioned above. Of these 70, only 9 of them were retained by our clients, leaving the vast majority of them to spawn again this fall and perhaps give someone else the thrill of reeling them in once again in the future.  You can check out our 2016 Fishing Gallery or read more about our New Brunswick Lake Trout fishing here.

Bear Hunting

2016 Spring Bear Hunting

This year , both the spring and fall seasons were very productive with several trophy bears taken. Thanks to the hard work and dedicated efforts of our expert guides, all of our hunters had the opportunity to take a bear.

For 2017, we are excited to offer a new area to our property. An archery only area, that has never been hunted with a rifle. Our 2016 bear hunting pictures can be found here and our New Brunswick Black Bear hunting page can provide you with more details on our bear hunts.

Non- Resident Moose Hunting

2016 Moose Hunting Long Lake Adventures

As you are well aware, drawing a New Brunswick moose hunting tag is difficult, but we were fortunate enough in 2016 to host three lucky hunters, who along with their guides experienced the “hunt of a lifetime”. Earlier-than-normal moose hunting dates, combined with a mixed bag of weather, that ranged from warm and sunny to cold and rainy wasn’t a problem for our experienced guides as all 3 of our hunters took home fine bulls. You can view our 2016 moose hunting photos, along with a video of one of our 2016 hunts here and read more about moose hunting with Long Lake Adventures on this page. We remind our non-resident friends that the 2017 New Brunswick Moose Lottery entry dates start on February 6. We wish you all the best of luck in the draw.

Taking a break on one of our ATV tours

The weather this past summer was exceptional! Sunny warm days, with occasional night time rain showers, made for ideal conditions for several of our “ tailor-made” ATV tours. Fantastic scenery, awesome food and wonderful camaraderie , are making these tours very popular among ATV enthusiasts . Check out our photo gallery.

A comfortable NEW cabin, with all the amenities and a great view and a custom built dock system by “Big Dads Welding”, were a welcome addition, enjoyed by several families during our “Family Vacation Special” this past August.

We’d like to thank all of our guests, friends and staff who made 2016 another great year and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you in 2017!

New Brunswick Moose Season Dates for 2016

The New Brunswick government officially announced 2 days ago that the 2016 New Brunswick Moose hunting season will once again be a 5 day hunt. Though no official announcement has been made the moose season dates in New Brunswick for 2016 will likely be September 18 through 24, 2016 as this is the last full week in September, Saturday inclusive. There was speculation the hunt might be shortened or possibly split into two 3- day seasons however for 2016 the government elected to maintain  the status quo after consultations with stakeholders.

New Brunswick Spring bear hunting update May 26 2015

A Memorial Day to remember!

New Brunswick Black Bear Hunting 2015

Long Lake Adventures Spring Bear Hunt 2015

We started our 2015 New Brunswick Spring Black Bear season here at Long Lake Adventures with our first four hunters of the year taking fine Bears the first evening of  our spring hunt! ( on four shots total no less! ) Spring arrived late again this year due to heavy winter snowfall but the bears are out and about now with hits on most of our baits already. The elevation (and extended winter) in our area means our bait locations aren’t accessible until mid-May but we work diligently to prepare and monitor our bait locations on a daily basis to insure we have several active baits working when our first group of hunters arrive. For more information on spring black bear hunting in New Brunswick visit our bear hunting page. Congratulations again to Jason, Ryan, Bucky and Joe!

DNR announces New Brunswick Moose Hunting Season Dates for 2015

The New Brunswick government announced today, May 1st  that the 2015 New Brunswick Moose hunting season dates will be from Tuesday September 22 through Saturday September 26. This ended speculation that the season might be returned to the old 3 day season which was the norm prior to 2014, however after analysis of data the government elected to continue with the 5 day season for 2015. Application dates for the New Brunswick RESIDENT Moose Draw will be May 19 through June 12. The Non-resident Moose draw entry dates ended yesterday, April 30 and the results will be available on May 19. We wish all of our friends both resident and non-resident best of luck in the draw and invite you to check out our Moose hunting page for more pics and information to guide you when choosing your outfitter for your New Brunswick Moose hunt.

April 2, 2015 Long Lake Adventures Update/News

The Dieppe Fly Fishing Forum 2015 provided a great chance for us to talk to all of you in the Moncton area and “parts beyond”; we’d like to express our appreciation to those of you who stopped by to chat with us during this event and we hope you enjoyed the Forum and the NB Sportsman Show.  We enjoy this event ourselves and it’s become truly a “don’t miss” show when we plan which events we’re going to attend over the winter months. Following with that thought,  we still have some great dates left for fishing and naturally, as opening day draws closer and the weather warms more of us get that “fishing fever”-so we encourage you to contact us to plan your excursion(s) while there’s still some degree of flexibility as far as date ranges go. We remind everyone that all of our packages include your own cabin and access to our leased waters. Fully guided trips are available, however if you are new to Lake Trout and/or Landlocked Salmon fishing and would just perhaps like to hire a guide for a single day out of a multi-day stay, just to “show you the ropes” we will do our best to accommodate you.

The second part of our “Fishing With Friends” video we shot last July with Steve Clapperton and crew is now available on our Youtube channel at https://youtu.be/5PrG0TGqkrM  (courtesy of Eastlink TV who produced the video-thanks to them for sharing) This video features fly fishing for Brook ( Speckled) Trout and Landlocked Atlantic Salmon in and around Mud Lake, which is one of our leased lakes that is set aside for catch and release fishing only. Shot in one evening just before dark, we hook several wild Brookies and salmon.

On a final note we remind our non-resident friends the countdown is on to get your applications in for the New Brunswick non-resident moose hunting lottery (more info on our Moose hunting page)  The deadline is down to 4 weeks away (April 30) so if you’re considering a New Brunswick Moose hunt be sure to get those applications in.

New Brunswick Moose hunting recap September 2014

Yesterday the province of New Brunswick released numbers regarding the the 2014 Moose hunting season. As expected ,with the new 5 day season kill numbers were up province-wide (but not quite as much as biologists predicted). 2014 saw a total harvest of 3690 Moose which was a 10% increase over the 2013 season total. Projections had put the final 2014 kill at 3940 (which would have been about a 16% increase) due to the extra 2 days of hunting this year, however the last 2 days of moose season were unseasonably warm with temperatures topping 26 C (about 80 F) in some parts of New Brunswick which likely had a negative impact on hunting during those 2 days.

There were 4612 resident licences issued for 2014 along with 100 non-resident licences making the total 4712, with 3690 Moose taken for an overall success rate of 78%. The New Brunswick DNR estimates the moose population province wide to be about 30 000 animals.

Here at Long Lake Adventures we had a 100% success rate with our non-resident hunter Jimmy bagging a fine bull the first morning and we  also had 3 residents with licenses using our facilities as their base and each of them had Moose by Friday.
