A Memorial Day to remember!
Long Lake Adventures Spring Bear Hunt 2015
We started our 2015 New Brunswick Spring Black Bear season here at Long Lake Adventures with our first four hunters of the year taking fine Bears the first evening of our spring hunt! ( on four shots total no less! ) Spring arrived late again this year due to heavy winter snowfall but the bears are out and about now with hits on most of our baits already. The elevation (and extended winter) in our area means our bait locations aren’t accessible until mid-May but we work diligently to prepare and monitor our bait locations on a daily basis to insure we have several active baits working when our first group of hunters arrive. For more information on spring black bear hunting in New Brunswick visit our bear hunting page. Congratulations again to Jason, Ryan, Bucky and Joe!
Fishing action is picking up now here at Long Lake Adventures as waters are warming to a level more favourable to the Lake trout and Landlock salmon. Topwater action has been exceptional for our fishermen the last few days with one group boating several fine fish in one day averaging 6 to 7 pounds per fish. This group released over 30 pounds of fish in one day. Their largest fish taken was an 18 pound Lake trout. Other groups are reporting fish over 10 pounds. For more information on New Brunswick’s finest Lake trout fishing visit our Lake trout fishing page– a few dates are still available during the next few weeks !
Canada In The Rough will be visiting us this spring to take part in a New Brunswick spring bear hunt as well as experiencing our great fishing for Lake Trout and Landlocked Salmon!
Canada in the Rough is one of North America’s most popular outdoor television shows, hosted by the Beasley Brothers- Keith, Kevin and Paul, they’ll be joined here at Long Lake Adventures by Darren Hasson of Graywood Sporting Group. We’ll be pursuing some big Black Bears in the late afternoon/evenings and spending the rest of our daylight hours on the water in search of some Landlocked Atlantic Salmon and Lake Trout. This will be Canada In The Rough’s first trip to Long Lake Adventures and we look forward to hosting them!
Monster New Brunswick Black Bear June 2014.
NB Bear 2014
We ended the last week of our New Brunswick spring bear hunting season a couple of weeks ago capping off a great spring 2014!
Our guests here at Long Lake Adventures took several large black bears this spring upwards of 300 pounds with a bear about twice that size taken by a member of the last group of hunters we had in camp.
We left our trail cameras out on some of our bait sites after the last group all got their bears and still had several bears visiting the baits. We’ll be updating our hunting gallery within the next few days with pics of all of our lucky spring bear hunters. For more info on both spring and fall bear hunting be sure to visit our New Brunswick bear hunting page.
Our second group of spring bear hunters had a great week with four of our six hunters taking fine New Brunswick black bears over 300 pounds and all of our hunters had opportunities to fill their tags. We continue to expand our network of bait locations throughout the season and have numerous trail cameras deployed to keep our hunters on active bait sites.
These 3 bears were taken the first day (May 26 ) of our spring bear hunt 2014
We kicked off our New Brunswick spring bear hunting season for 2014 here at Long Lake Adventures yesterday evening, May 26 and we started off with a bang- literally! Three of of hunters took fine black bears. After an unusually long winter here in northern New Brunswick (there’s still a bit of snow in some places) the bears have been out and about with lots of activity around bait sites. Weather remains on the cool side but on the bright side the black flies and mosquitoes haven’t come to life yet in much in the way of numbers; of course we expect that to change within the next few days. The weather forecast for the rest of the week shows temperatures warming up with only light winds and very little rain so this should make for pretty good hunting conditions for both the hunters and the bears for the balance of the week.
Nice New Brunswick Lake Trout-May 15,2014
13+ pound Lake Trout May 18 ,2014
Fishing season started 4 days ago and our guests have hooked into several fine Togue ( Lake Trout). Landlocked Salmon fishing has also been exceptionally good. The “bite” is really just starting now due in part to the ice only completely leaving the lake a couple of days before the season started. The lure of choice for most of our guests have been various Rapala patterns trolled topwater -we still have a few dates available this spring and with the later-than-normal ice out we expect the water will stay cool well into the latter part of June. Here’s a pic we snapped yesterday (May 4 ,2015) at Long Lake; dark ice and open water along the shore tell us in spite of what’s been a long winter in northern New Brunswick that the ice will be out right on schedule! Over the next few days we’ll be getting things ready for our fishing guests and spring bear hunters-we look forward to seeing you soon!
